Sports in Mauritius

Expected all year round holidays provide an opportunity to relax and recharge for a few days.  Some people feel that this means just relaxing with friends or family. Others are keener on a sports holiday to experience more. Mauritius is an ideal destination, offering unique landscapes that will satisfy both those who enjoy lazy afternoons by the sea and those keen on sports and need to move around and discover the country.

If you are more inclined to take advantage of your holidays to exercise, this article is for you. Need help? Villanovo can advise you on the activities and sports available in Mauritius.

Unless you have planned daytime activities, it is best to exercise in the early morning or evening because of the high temperatures. So, if you want to go running, you might prefer the morning to the middle of the afternoon, you will be fresher, there will probably be fewer people, and you can admire the sunrise on the island.

Mauritius is a paradise for water sports lovers. The island offers a plethora of water sports such as surfing, kitesurfing, and windsurfing. The Morne beach on the southern tip of the island is a world-renowned spot for kitesurfing. The conditions are optimal, and the view of the Morne mountain is simply breathtaking.

Mauritius, with its turquoise lagoons and coral reefs, is an ideal place to discover an incredible underwater fauna. Sea turtles, dolphins, whales, and a multitude of multicolored fish are on the program. The island is full of diving and snorkeling spots like in the south of the island at the Blue Bay Marine Park or even further north at Grand Bay. For those who would like to take their first dive, count on about 50 euros per person.
